30 May to 8 September
Jennifer's Caubet looks at space, both in the occupation and representation of it, and explores it through sculpture, installations and drawings using a formal approach not far from minimalism. Imagining territory as a resource, Jennifer Caubet scoured demolition sites in Toulouse, and selected that of the headquarters of Airbus. For her sculpture, she took railings, ramps and doors, all elements that guided, protected or held back bodies within the built environment. By transforming, displacing and redeploying those materials in another context, Jennifer Caubet creates for us a mazelike sculpture that visitors can grasp or even negotiate, gliding through, settling in and perhaps playing with perceptions until they in turn feel the journey to which the artist has given shape: from ruin to utopia, from bygone world to new emancipation.
With the patronage of La Caisse des Dépôts and the participation of the firms Cassin, Métamo, Création Métallerie Toulousaine (CMT), Chronolaq and Zinq Toulouse.
Materials are sourced for re-usage as part of the European LifeWaste2Build program by Toulouse Métropole.
This project benefits from funding by the Ministry of Culture as part of its program to support art commissions.

The invitation issued to Jennifer Caubet prompted Le Nouveau Printemps to co-organize with Les Ateliers des Arques a roundtable on the themes of "Artists and territory(ies)" on Friday May 31 at Cour Baragnon. Jennifer is completing her residency at Les Ateliers des Arques and, for the occasion, the Festival is organizing free bus transport to Les Arques on Saturday June 29 to visit the exhibitions (reservation required, see page 56). Besides the sculpture in Cour Sainte-Anne, Jennifer's work will also be exhibited throughout the Festival at CAUE 31's Centre de Ressources, in Cour Baragnon.
